Leap day afternoon, a blizzard of great intensity,
an extra day and nothing to do with it, save
peck out these tiny stories with my two fingers,
tapping too hard on the keys like I always do.
Little stories about little things, like the joke
about the football game between the large animals
and the small animals, you know, the punch line
about the tardy centipede who was in the locker room
getting his ankles taped. Tiny thoughts about love,
how it disappoints because it is shaped like an ellipse,
not a circle, a problem of gravity and the way it pulls
at each of us, gravity and love and these tiny stories.
